12 Rutgers/Stanford: All aboard the Dayton train. But this USC team has a very high ceiling if Drew Peterson plays like the Pac-12 Player of the Year, and freshmen like Tre White, Vince Iwuchukwu and Kijani Wright prove to be immediate rotation players. Miami's Big Three of Nijel Pack, Isaiah Wong and Norchad Omier will be a load. But the Trojans' recruiting class is one of the best in the country. 9 USC: Miami was very active in the transfer portal, but USC could not land any game-changing transfers. Could this be the year Gonzaga gets over the hump and finally cuts the nets down? The frontcourt features Drew Timme, Anton Watson and Efton Reid, while the backcourt is brimming with talented pieces like Julian Strawther, Rasir Bolton, Malachi Smith, Hunter Sallis and Nolan Hickman. 16 Morehead State: Gonzaga's so loaded and incredibly deep. Indiana State transfer Micah Thomas looks ready to take on a huge role. 16 Nicholls State: Howard's Steve Settle III is a problem in the paint, but Nicholls State is quietly one of the best mid-major programs in the country. Nico Galette really started to transform into a star down the stretch. Byrd and Bryson Etienne can get buckets with anybody. 16 Sacred Heart: Southern’s backcourt of Terrell Williams, P.J. The contrast of styles would be absolutely fascinating. "Slow" is the worst four-letter word for St. John's: Saint Mary's wants to play a slow, methodical game. But the Cardinal has way more proven shot-makers and guys who can go get buckets in late-game scenarios. 12 Rutgers: Rutgers' combination of perimeter pressure that Mulcahy and McConnell can provide and the rim protection of Omoruyi could give Stanford some real issues. (Photo: © Darren Yamashita, USA TODAY Sports) Keep an eye out on Davidson transfer Michael Jones who can shred the nets from downtown. But Stanford has a ton of returning talent like Spencer Jones, Brandon Angel and Michael O'Connell. Stanford: Harrison Ingram is the reigning Pac-12 Freshman of the Year, and he could take a big jump into becoming one of the Pac-12's best in 2022-23. Rutgers might not light up the scoreboard, but Mulcahy, Caleb McConnell and Omoruyi form a three-headed monster defensively. But he'll be tasked with creating some more of his own offense in Year 3. Throw it anywhere close to the backboard, and Omoruyi can go get it. Omoruyi's catch radius at the tin is absolutely insane. But Rutgers will go as far as big man Cliff Omoruyi takes it. Rutgers: Paul Mulcahy is one of the Big Ten's best point guards, but he flies under the radar because he doesn't make a ton of super sexy plays. There's no reason why Randy Bennett can't have the Gaels extremely competitive in the WCC yet again. Saint Mary's: Logan Johnson and Alex Ducas are two of the biggest pieces to return for a Saint Mary's team that should be extremely competitive. John's shoot? That's one of the huge questions. Posh Alexander and Andre Curbelo are two, hounding point-of-attack defenders, and long, athletic wing David Jones can be a menace in the passing lanes. John's has a chance to be really nasty defensively. have matured and are ready to punch back. Tulane was super young last year, but Jaylen Forbes, Sion James, Jalen Cook and Co. The AAC is begging for another team to rise out of the middle of the pack, and Tulane has the look of a mid-major wrecking ball. Tulane: Ron Hunter has something cooking at Tulane. Providence: Kentucky transfer Bryce Hopkins and South Carolina transfer Devin Carter have the chance to be All-Big East players for Ed Cooley. who should be an instant 3-and-D veteran. Keep an eye out for UCF transfer Darin Green Jr. But Cleveland has plenty of help thanks to the return of Caleb Mills, Cam'Ron Fletcher, Naheem McLeod and Jalen Warley. Seton Hall should be very switchable defensively and force a lot of turnovers.įlorida State: This Seminoles team is loaded and primed for a major breakout season if Matthew Cleveland can reach his potential and they can finally stay healthy for most of the year. Kadary Richmond really came on as the season progressed, and the addition of Saint Peter's transfer KC Ndefo is huge. This Pirates team could be absolutely terrifying defensively. Seton Hall: Winning right away in the Big East won't be easy, but Shaheen Holloway might be up to the task. (Photo: Melina Myers, USA TODAY Sports) First Four Out
